Etsy banner size
Check a shop banner against the three published 4:1 sizes, then see the separate mini-banner sizes. A listing photo uses different sentences and stays on this page as a second reading of the same file.

Big banner
The image Help page lists a minimum of 1200 × 300 and a recommended size of 1600 × 400. The Seller Handbook, for the same big banner, says 3360 × 840 for optimal performance and a minimum of 1200 × 300. All three sizes are 4:1. A file can meet one sentence and miss another. 1600 × 400 is the Help recommendation, not the only size Etsy names.
Meeting a published size does not promise the banner will look sharp after Etsy stores it. It also does not explain an upload message that still says the banner must be at least 1200 × 300. This page cannot see that upload.
Mini banner
Mini is a different asset. Help’s minimum is 1200 × 160 and its recommended size is 1600 × 213. The Handbook states 1200 × 160 for the mini banner and does not repeat 1600 × 213. 1200 × 160 is 7.5:1. 1600 × 213 is not that ratio. 1200 × 300 is the big-banner minimum, not the mini size.
Listing photo
The image Help page recommends a width and height of at least 2000 pixels, and says the first listing photo should be at least 635 pixels on both sides. Create a Listing says images should be at least 2000 pixels wide, and that this warning is only a suggestion. Those are two sentences. This page does not turn them into “2000 on the longest side” or a required 2000 × 2000 square.
The same Help page says images larger than 1MB may not finish uploading on a slow connection. Create a Listing says files bigger than 300k may time out. This page reads 1MB as 1,000,000 bytes and 300k as 300,000 bytes. Neither sentence is a rejection. The same page says transparent PNG files are not supported and the transparent area will appear black, and that animated GIF files are not supported.
The image Help page checked 2026-10-14 does not publish a 570 × 570 or 570 × 456 thumbnail upload. It tells you to leave room for square, portrait, and landscape crops and to use the listing thumbnail tool. This page does not print 4:5 or 5:4 as an official safe box. A 570 px side is below the 635 px first-photo line.
The same Help page says the first photo should be landscape or square, and also says to avoid square crops. This page does not choose one of those sentences.
